sugar skull and baby blankets

Sometimes I find inspiration in the most unusual places.

One day my Facebook feed surprised me with something I don't usually see.  Instead of baby pictures and politics (yuck!) I was presented with some of the most beautiful tattoos I'd ever seen.  All of them were of sugar skulls and some of them were absolutely dazzling.

I've always had a fascination with tattoos.  And I absolutely LOVE sugar skulls.

I have to admit that I don't have any tattoos, but I've come close on several occasions.  Turning your body into a living piece of art has a very tantalizing allure to it.  But I digress.

These beautiful images got my creative juices flowing.  The next thing I knew I had my linoleum carving block out and I was carving sugar skull design of my own.  :-)

Within a few hours it was done.  Then I was able to use it to block print on all sorts of shirts, towels, blankets.

You can check them out here!

And finally, here's the source of my inspiration if you're interested...
